We’ve all heard the phrase “There was a twinkle in their eyes.”
I guess that phrase could be metaphorical. But, as photographers, we are interested in the possible physical reasons.
Those twinkles have a photography term. Do you know what it is?
They are called catchlights! And they are one of your best friends as you learn how to use lighting in your photography.
Why? They reveal some information about how an existing photograph was lit. This information can then be transferred to your own work.
Today, our eBook is written by Karlo De Leon. It’s titled, “Analyzing Light Using Catchlights”.
Karlo is going to help you learn how to identify lighting through catchlights.
Here is some of what is covered in the eBook:
- How to identify catchlights in a photograph
- Looking at catchlights in the eyes versus other surfaces
- Why observing catchlights will help you
- How observing catchlights can reveal the number of lights used in a photograph and their location
- You can even determine the type of lighting equipment used
- How to examine tricky catchlight situations
- And how all of this will help you down the line!
Make sure you check this out! It’s good info—
